What Would Adam Khoo Tell His Dying Self?
They'll Surprise You
Imagine today is your last. You’ve lived a full life, achieved everything you set out to do, but all your published works – books, videos, articles – vanish with you. You can only leave the world with three pieces of advice. What would they be?
That’s the question I posed to the legendary Adam Khoo in our recent interview. His response, while insightful, surprised me. I expected investment or financial wisdom, but his words went deeper.
1. Time is Short. Cherish the People Around You.
Adam emphasizes: “Don’t sweat the small stuff. Many people get irritated and angry over trivialities. Why get angry when our time is so limited? Let’s cherish every moment with loved ones.”
2. Choose Happiness.
He points out that many feel their emotions control them. But we are in control. Happiness is a choice, fueled by gratitude for what we have.
“Life will always have unmet expectations,” he says. “Focus on your blessings and find happiness.”
3. Embrace Failure as a Learning Experience.
Fear of failure often stems from defining it as not reaching a goal. Successful people rarely achieve them on the first try. They learn and persevere.
“Failure for me,” Adam explains, “isn’t missing a goal. It’s not trying at all. The greatest failure is the failure to participate.”
Adam’s advice serves as a powerful reminder to be a better investor, entrepreneur, and most importantly, a better person.
“Time is short. Let’s cherish our moment and do the things we want! Let’s choose to be happy!”
